Alexandre Hillairet is primarily a doctor of Oriental Medicine and he is the founder of La Vie Acupuncture Clinic, Inc. located in Ventura and Canoga park, California and the founder of Ventura Aikido LLC. He has been a healthcare provider for the last 20 years.
He started to study martial arts at the age of 5 years old in Djibouti on the African continent. In France, he practiced Wado-Ryu Karate in Sarrebourg with Patrice Belrhiti, French Karate Champion and one of the top competitors in Europe at the time.
Alexandre was first introduced to Aikido, in 1998, while studying at the University of Marseille, France. The following year, he was attending an exchange student program for disabled children, in San Francisco, and then he decided to pursuit his medical studies in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles.
Alexandre studied under Larry Reynosa Shihan Ventura, California from 2014 to 2024. Additionally, he served as a board member for Reynosa Shihan's non-profit organizations, Makoto Dojo and Makoto Kyokai, for five years. In 2024, Reynosa Shihan wrote a letter of recommendation to Koji Sakaguchi Shihan of the Osaka Buikukai in Japan, endorsing Alexandre as a student.
After the pandemic forced the closure of Makoto dojo in 2020, Alexandre founded Ventura Aikido to preserve the teachings of Aikido in Ventura, California.
Alexandre has been attending Christian Tissier Shihan's seminars globally for the last ten years, and he has also been taking classes in Japan with Moriteru Ueshiba, the current Doshu, and Mitsuteru Ueshiba, the Dojo-cho at the Aikikai. Furthermore, he has been under the guidance of Koji Sakaguchi Shihan in Osaka, Japan, since 2024.
