As the Spring Equinox is approaching: “You must prune to bloom. If the dead weight is not pruned and removed, it compromises the quality, performance, and output of the vine. When you prune what’s not working in your life, you make the space and place for renewal to happen and for new growth to spring forth.”
— Susan C. Young
"True victory is victory over the self"
Morihei Ueshiba
The first step of this Aikido journey starts with yourself and with your health.
I always use the argument that it is not possible to defend yourself if you cannot run as running away might be your best option.
If you have to defend yourself and you cannot breathe calmly after a few seconds you won't be able to defend yourself either.
Aikido helps to improve cardiovascular and respiratory functions and it teaches the students to defend themselves and choose the best response.
That is an excellent question:"What is Cardiorespiratory Endurance?"
In Aikido, we train the whole body, every muscle is involved. As you train, the heart and the lungs become stronger and arteries and veins' functions improve.
By improving your cardiorespiratory endurance, you will have a clearer mind to face the daily stressors and in the face of danger. You won't feel overwhelmed and you will remain calm.
Calmness is not only a state of mind but a physiological response to stressors and it needs to be cultivated.
Aikido can help to increase physical and mental performance.
Reduce physical tension and improve flexibility.
Increase the ability to focus, and to remain calm while performing.
Do you want to learn Aikido and self-defense?
The first step of this journey starts with your health, "You must prune to bloom".
